Ready… Set… VOTE!

| PCPW Co-chairs | ,

One vote.

That’s what determined the outcome of the Worthington City Council election in 2019.

Here in Worthington, typically around 50-60% of registered voters vote in city council elections. That’s about 5,000 people.

We wish that number was higher, but here’s what that relatively low turnout means for you: your vote has a lot of power.

We don’t know yet what turnout’s going to be like tomorrow, or how close the results will be. What we do know is that every person who votes tomorrow will have an impact on the future of UMCH (1033 High St.), and our entire community.

Here’s some election information we hope will be helpful for you:

  • The election is tomorrow – Tuesday, November 4.
  • Polls are open 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM. Confirm your polling location here.
  • Bring ID with you (driver’s license, state ID, etc.) Click here for more info.
  • If you have an absentee ballot and haven’t sent it in yet, take it to the drop box at the Board of Elections at 1700 Morse Rd. by 7:30 PM Tuesday, Nov. 4. Do NOT bring it to your Worthington polling place.
  • Project Community Park Worthington (PCPW) has endorsed Michael Sharvin and David Robinson. For City Council, we encourage you to only vote for these two.

Why Sharvin and Robinson?

The council members we elect tomorrow will be making decisions that affect the UMCH property (1033 High St) in the months and years to come. Who do you want making those decisions?

This year, for Worthington City Council, two — and only two — candidates have earned our votes: Michael Sharvin and David Robinson.

We are impressed with the depth of their knowledge and ideas about a broad range of issues, and their willingness to communicate clearly with voters about their approach to those issues. And Sharvin and Robinson are the only candidates whose thinking about UMCH aligns with the Project Community Park Worthington (PCPW) vision. At the end of this post, we’ve included a short video of Sharvin & Robinson talking about UMCH.

For more about why these two have earned our vote:

Why should I vote for just two?

Participation in the democratic process includes the choice to only vote for candidates one wholly supports. Voting for candidates you don’t fully support can potentially add to those candidates’ totals in a way that inadvertently defeats the candidates you do fully support. Declining to “spend” all four of your votes is not wasting your votes. It is casting a ballot with confidence.

We at PCPW will be casting our ballots with confidence tomorrow for two — and only two — Worthington City Council candidates:

Michael Sharvin and David Robinson.

We hope you will consider doing the same.
